The Numbers
- We serve over 8.000 unduplicated clients per year.
- Over 400 unduplicated men, women and children are served through our programs each day.
- Our service area includes all or portions of six Connecticut counties.
- We deliver over 200,000 meals per year.
- We provide over 50,000 bed nights per year.
- We deliver supportive services to individuals and families placed in over 100 scattered-site housing units.
- We operate out of five facilities; four in Greater Hartford and one other in Middletown. We employ over 90 people.
St. Elizabeth House
- In addition to residents' meals, up to 300 people come each day for breakfast and lunch at the Friendship Cnter Meals Program, six days a week.
- Meals Program, Day Shelter and Friendship Center guests may use shower facilities, get fresh clothes, medical services, receive case management services and gain respite from severe weather during the day.
- Many of the meals program guests are parents with their children. They are served in a special room reserved for families. We provide education, social, psychological, medical and other services for families with children that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We assist appoximately 100 parents of children each year.
- A Family Services program provides scattered-site supportive housing and intensive case management for ten homeless families to help them become independent.
- 20 homeless single adults are provided case management and supportive housing services through a multi-agency collaborative housing program, PROJECT TEACH.
Services to People with Special Needs
- Mercy House is home to nine individuals with various disabilities.
- Over 50 individuals and their families receive rental subsidies and case management services to help them get the support services they need to maintain and/or increase their independence.
- Ten people receive short-term emergency housing for up to three months.
Shepherd Home in Middletown
- Shepherd Home houses 70 men and women in a transitional housing program for up to two years; support services help residents find health services, employment, and housing.

- Our operations budget is approximately $4.5 million.
- Food purchases alone cost over $130,000 per year annually..
