Meals
Provide, Cook and Serve
- Friendship Center, 118 Main St., Hartford
- Dining room at St. Elizabeth House, 118 Main St., Hartford
- Dining room at Shepherd Home, 12 Bow Lane, Middletown
Every day we turn to our wonderful volunteers to help serve breakfast and lunch, Monday through Saturday, at our community meals program in the Friendship Center and in the dining rooms of St. Elizabeth House and Shepherd Home seven days a week.
Buying some or all of the food, as well as cooking it and serving it is a great help to Mercy Housing and Shelter. However, if buying food is not possible, cooking and serving is always welcome. We especially need lunch to be provided and served on Saturdays at the Friendship Center, where about 250 to 300 people a day have their meals.
Volunteers are also needed to buy food and cook and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner for the 58 people who live in our transitional housing programs at St. Elizabeth House, and 70 who live
in Shepherd Home. If you provide the food, you may pick the menu. Our cooks are there to help with preparing the food and to make menu suggestions. If buying some or all of the food is not possible, cooking and serving is always welcome.
Requirements: Groups must be 4 to 6 people, over the age of 16, or 15 with adult supervision.
